U.S., Mexico spring-summer schedules

In 13 days, the United States and Mexico will collide at Azteca Stadium on CONCACAF’s third World Cup qualifying matchday. With the Gold Cup schedule now set, the Americans and Mexicans also now know their separate and relatively parallel paths through the spring and summer for friendlies, qualifiers and tournaments.

Here’s a look beyond March 26…..


April 17: Mexico vs. Peru at Candlestick Park in San Francisco (friendly)

May 29: United States vs. Belgium at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland (friendly)*

May 31: Mexico vs. Nigeria at Reliant Stadium in Houston (friendly)

June 2: United States vs. Germany at RFK Stadium in Washington (friendly)*

June 4: Mexico at Jamaica in Kingston (World Cup qualifier)

June 7: United States at Jamaica in Kingston (World Cup qualifier)

June 7: Mexico at Panama in Panama City (World Cup qualifier)

June 11: United States vs. Panama, U.S. site to be announced soon (World Cup qualifier)

June 11: Mexico vs. Costa Rica at Estadio Azteca (World Cup qualifier)

June 16: Mexico vs. Italy in Rio de Janeiro (Confederations Cup)

June 18: United States vs. Honduras at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah (World Cup qualifier)

June 19: Mexico vs. Brazil in Fortaleza (Confederations Cup)

June 22: Mexico vs. Japan in Belo Horizonte (Confederations Cup)

June 26-30: Mexico, to be determined (Confederations Cup knockout stages)

July 7: Mexico vs. Canada at Rose Bowl in Pasadena (Gold Cup)

July 9: United States vs. Belize at Jeld-Wen Field in Portland (Gold Cup)

July 11: Mexico vs. Panama at CenturyLink Field in Seattle (Gold Cup)

July 13: United States vs. Cuba at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah (Gold Cup)

July 14: Mexico vs. Martinique at Sports Authority Field in Denver (Gold Cup)

July 16: United States vs. Costa Rica at Rentschler Field in Hartford (Gold Cup)

July 20-21: Mexico and United States, to be determined, at Georgia Dome in Atlanta or M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore (Gold Cup quarterfinals)

July 24: Mexico and United States, to be determined, at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Tex. (Gold Cup semifinals)

July 28: Mexico and United States, to be determined, at Soldier Field in Chicago (Gold Cup final)

Of note: Both teams are expected to name secondary rosters for the Gold Cup.

TV: USA home qualifiers are on ESPN networks. … USA away qualifier against Mexico is on ESPN and Univision. … USA away qualifier against Jamaica is on beIN Sport. … Fox Soccer and the Univision family of channels hold the Gold Cup rights. … ESPN and Univision outlets will carry the Confederations Cup. … ESPN and Univision channels will carry various Mexico matches. … Telemundo has rights to El Tri’s away qualifiers.
