The Maryland men’s program, which lost to Georgetown in the College Cup semifinals last season and will be among the top-rated teams in the country again this year, will begin the 2013 campaign on the West Coast against Stanford and California, the university formally announced Monday. The Terrapins are expected to return eight starters from a 20-1-3 squad, including 2012 Hermann Trophy winner Patrick Mullins. This is Maryland’s final year in the Atlantic Coast Conference, widely regarded as the premier league in the country, before moving to the Big Ten.
