A Beatle at Nationals Park. Goats at RFK Stadium.

While Sir Paul McCartney is performing on South Capitol Street, Chivas Guadalajara is visiting East Capitol Street on Friday evening. Full house for the concert, small gathering for D.C. United’s summer friendly upstream along the Anacostia.

Maybe he’ll get confused and show up at RFK by accident. (Nice halftime show.)

TV: ESPN2, ESPN Deportes, 8 p.m. ET.

English announcers: Glenn Davis, Taylor Twellman.

Amid 24 hours of heavy rain, tarps protected a large portion of the field leading to gametime. They also covered a few ugly scars inflicted by an annual Ethiopian soccer festival last week.

RFK news:

*The U.S. women’s national team will play Mexico in a Sept. 3 friendly in Washington. Unfortunately, it’s a Tuesday night. But the previous weekend was ruled out because the NWSL championship game promises to feature U.S., and possibly Mexican, internationals. And RFK is not available the following weekend because of a Howard University football game, planned last year.

*Meantime, the El Salvador (men’s) national team might return to RFK next month. Available date: August 14, a FIFA fixture date, or Aug. 31. The opponent would likely be Central or South American.

The caveat: The Salvadorans must fail to advance to the CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinals in Baltimore next weekend. If they do appear in Charm City, promoters will not want to bring them back to the region so soon. El Salvador would end up at M&T Bank Stadium by winning Group B or possibly by finishing third. (Second place, or possibly third, would send ES to ATL.)

D.C. United notes:

*The club couldn’t invent new things to go wrong. The latest: On May 14, midfielder Marcelo Saragosa had surgery on his right knee. This week, he underwent an operation on his left knee. He will miss four to six weeks.

*Left back-left midfielder Sheriff Suma, a 26-year-old Sierra Leone international, will begin a trial next week. He was most recently with Ravan Baku in Azerbaijan. Last month Suma scored against Tunisia in a World Cup qualifier.

*The teams are allowed up to 11 substitutions tonight.  Chivas brought 10 extra players. United will have 11 extras in uniform and will probably use nine or 10.

*The rescheduled Supporters’ Charity Shield, featuring Barra Brava FC vs. United’s under-23 squad, will take place July 27 at the RFK training grounds. Weather forced a postponement in May. Donations will benefit United for D.C., the club’s charitable arm.
