U.S. video and Gold Cup schedule

With a 1-0 victory over Costa Rica on Tuesday night, the U.S. national team completed perfect group play in the CONCACAF Gold Cup and set a program record with an eighth consecutive triumph.

Brek Shea scored in the 82nd minute, capping a sensational sequence that began with Sean Johnson‘s brilliant save, flowed with a swift counterattack and blossomed into a breakaway on Landon Donovan‘s marvelous pass at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn.

In the first game of a quarterfinal doubleheader, the Group C winners will face El Salvador, the third-place team from Group B, on Sunday afternoon in Baltimore. When the pairings for the two games in Charm City became clear Tuesday night, about 10,000 tickets were purchased within an hour and eclipsed 35,000 overall, local organizers said.
