The pairings are set for the ACC men’s tournament semifinals Friday night at Maryland SoccerPlex:

Maryland vs. Clemson, 5:30 p.m.

Virginia vs. Notre Dame, 8 p.m.

UPDATE (Wed. morning): The tournament committee has swapped the starting times, so Maryland-Clemson is now the later match.

The top-seeded Terrapins (11-3-5) remained on pace for a second consecutive conference title by defeating No. 8 Boston College, 2-0, at Ludwig Field in College Park. Junior midfielder Mikias Eticha (Stuart High School) and sophomore midfielder Tsubasa Endoh scored in the second half for Maryland, which has won five straight. Fourth-seeded Clemson (11-6-2) scored in the 75th and 82nd minutes to overtake No. 5 North Carolina, 2-1. During the regular season, Maryland won at Clemson, 3-1.

Sixth-seeded Virginia (10-4-4) upset No. 3 Wake Forest, 1-0, on Todd Wharton‘s penalty kick four minutes into extra time. Second seed Notre Dame (12-1-5) held off No. 7 Duke, 1-0. UVA is the only team to defeat the top-ranked Fighting Irish this year, a 2-0 result in South Bend on Oct. 26.

Meantime, two local junior colleges are preparing for national tournaments:

Montgomery College-Rockville carries a 13-game winning streak to Herkimer, N.Y., for the NJCAA Division III men’s quarterfinals. The second-seeded Knights, 21-1-0 and averaging 6.2 goals per match, will face Century (Minn.) on Thursday afternoon. Pairings and live streams are available here.

Boasting a 14-game winning streak, College of Southern Maryland (17-1-0) is heading to Melbourne, Fla., for the NJCAA Division I women’s tournament. The sixth-seeded Hawks will open against host Eastern Florida next Tuesday.
