Juergen Klinsmann, on player selection status:

“Right now, we have a pretty good picture of our 28, 30 guys that are going to make that pre-roster and then we go from there. Some of them have to step it up in MLS. We were not so happy with [some] the last couple of weeks. Some Europeans have to keep the consistency now. Even some of them have to step it up. It’s still an on-going process but eventually when you get closer to that deadline, you make the call based on what you saw over the past weeks but also over the past 2 ½ years.”

Changes from last week: Maurice Edu overtakes Mix Diskerud in midfield. Terrence Boyd rejoins the 30, DeAndre Yedlin drops out. Movement among the midfield and defensive contenders.

Of note: Check marks indicate my picks for the final roster. “Contenders” are my leading candidates for the 30-man list. Players not mentioned could re-enter the mix at any time in the coming weeks. As it stands, I am projecting 14 MLS players, eight European-based players and one Mexican-based player on the flight to Brazil.
