*Let the record show Spain’s official World Cup photo was taken at RFK Stadium. In an unofficial photo snapped around the same time Wednesday, D.C. United staffers posed with the players. Tonight at RFK, some United players and coaches will participate in a ceremonial jersey exchange with La Roja.

*Before joining New York City FC for the expansion club’s MLS debut next year, Spain’s David Villa will play for Melbourne City, formerly Melbourne Heart, in Australia. NYCFC and Melbourne City have common ownership, City Football Group.

*El Salvador, Spain’s opponent Saturday at FedEx Field, arrives in Washington today after dropping a 2-1 decision to Ivory Coast before 18,578 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Tex., on Wednesday night. The Salvadorans will conduct closed training sessions at FedEx tonight and Friday afternoon.

*Tickets sales for the U.S.-Nigeria friendly Saturday in Jacksonville have surpassed 42,000. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN and UniMas.

*I’m told D.C. United took an interest in Japanese World Cup captain Makoto Hasebe, a central midfielder, before he decided to move to Eintracht Frankfurt from Nurnberg last week. However, United officials said there was never any serious internal discussions. Hasebe, 30, is entering his eighth season in Germany.

*United homegrown forward Michael Seaton, 18, put in 78 minutes during Jamaica’s 2-2 draw with Egypt in London. In the last of their four friendlies, the Reggae Boyz will travel to France to face Brazil-bound Les Bleus on Sunday at Lille. Seaton has played 197 minutes and scored once through three matches.

*With a 1-0 victory at Chicago, the Washington Spirit (6-4-1) ran its unbeaten streak to five and moved into a tie for second place in the NWSL with the Red Stars. English striker Jodie Taylor scored her sixth goal of the season, third best in the league. [Video cued up to the goal.] Off this weekend, the Spirit will visit last-place Boston on Wednesday before traveling to Portland for a June 15 match.
