With perennial attendance leader Seattle at home and New York’s soccer community buzzing for its first derby of the season, MLS enjoyed a terrific weekend at the box office. The biggest draw outside of MLS came in the National Women’s Soccer League as Portland turned out in strong numbers again for the unbeaten Thorns, who attracted more fans than the top two NASL matches combined.
Of note: Detroit City FC, which plays in the fourth-division NPSL, drew 7,410 for its first match at Keyworth Stadium.
