NEW YORK — DeMar DeRozan will reportedly try to find an agreement with the only team he’s ever played for, the Toronto Raptors, as opposed to taking meetings. When asked about it, though, the all-star guard wasn’t interested in getting into specifics.

“We’ll see what happens come Friday [when free agency opens],” DeRozan said Monday at the unveiling of the 2016 U.S. Olympic team. “I have a couple days to really decide. Like I said, this is my first time approaching this whole thing. I’ve still got a couple days to really get my mind together come midnight, and we’ll see Friday.”

One thing that didn’t seem likely was a long courting process for DeRozan. He indicated by the time free agency begins, he’ll have a good idea of what he’s looking for — despite this being his first time as an unrestricted free agent.

“With me, I’m not necessarily one of those guys that’s wants to see and do this,” DeRozan said. “I’m a guy that goes with what’s comfortable for me. Come Thursday, whatever I feel at that time, whatever I feel is right for me, that’s the approach I’m going to take.”

The guess here is DeRozan gets some kind of five-year deal — maybe for a little less than the max — with Toronto. But if something doesn’t get done quickly, perhaps his hometown Los Angeles Lakers or some other suitor could get involved.
