The Maryland women’s basketball team is scheduled to open the season Nov. 9. (Doug Kapustin for The Washington Post)

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the Maryland women’s basketball team has canceled its Tuesday exhibition at the Comcast Center against Catholic University.

The matchup will not be rescheduled. The University of Maryland is operating under a state-declared state of emergency and has shut down all Tuesday activities and classes.

The Terps, ranked fifth nationally, will host Goldey-Beacom for an exhibition on Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. before tipping off the 2012-13 season against Mount St. Mary’s on Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.
