Terps to open Paradise Jam against Marist

Maryland will open the 2013 Paradise Jam against Marist at 4 p.m. on Nov. 22 in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. The 10-team tournament bracket was released Thursday.

The Terrapins, win or lose, will face either Northern Iowa or Loyola Marymount in the second round, and are guaranteed three games in the tournament.

Providence, Vanderbilt, Morgan State and La Salle round out the field. Only the Explorers reached the NCAA tournament this past season, and they couldn’t meet Maryland until the final round.

Topple the Red Foxes, who finished 10-21 last season and 41-118 over the past five, and the Terps receive an off day before playing for a title game berth on Nov. 27 at 6 p.m. The championship will be held on Nov. 25 at 9 p.m.

The Paradise Jam schedule further fills our Maryland’s nonconference slate, which includes the season-opener on Nov. 8 against Connecticut at Barclays Center and a BB&T Classic matchup with George Washington on Dec. 8.
