Maryland football injury updates: QBs Caleb Rowe and C.J. Brown progressing

Just spoke with Coach Randy Edsall via telephone to catch up before summer. Upperclassmen return to campus for summer session on May 28. Freshmen report on June 16 and start summer classes on June 17. School ends on July 26, and the players have until Aug. 4 to spend at home. Preseason practices begin Aug. 5.

Here’s some quick injury updates:

>> Quarterback Caleb Rowe (ACL), currently listed as a backup alongside Perry Hills and Ricardo Young, has been cleared for seven-on-sevens. Quarterback C.J. Brown (ACL) is fully clear for all activities and will enter preseason as Maryland’s clear-cut starter. Hills also is expected to be healthy once camp begins.

>> Wide receiver Daniel Adams, offensive lineman Nick Klemm and linebacker Bradley Johnson all had post-spring cleanup surgeries. Adams and Johnson both had their torn meniscuses repaired and face three-month recoveries, but are expected to be ready by August. Klemm had cleanup work done in one knee. His recovery period is significantly less.

Such surgeries are typically routine after spring.

>> Wide receiver Levern Jacobs (labrum), running back Wes Brown (labrum/ankle) and wide receiver Marcus Leak (broken toe) all should be fully healed come August. Leak has progressed to running drills, Edsall said.
