The Maryland football team released its first two-deep depth chart of the season, five days before Saturday’s opener against Florida International. Among the items of note:

>> Fullback Tyler Cierski (calf), the starter entering preseason, does not appear on the depth chart. He hasn’t practiced in weeks, which means Kenneth Goins Jr., a redshirt freshman from Gilman, will start against the Golden Panthers. Andrew Stefanelli, a transfer from Temple who is eligible to play immediately, slides into the backup role.

>> Deon Long, hampered by a back injury over the past two weeks, is listed as the first-string wide receiver, an indication that the Terps either A) expect him to play or B) aren’t quite sure whether he will be available.

>> Running backs Brandon Ross and Albert Reid are still listed as co-starting running backs. No third-stringer is marked. Both Joe Riddle (concussion) and Jacquille Veii (ankle) are hurt. Their status for Saturday remains uncertain.

>> Caleb Rowe and Ricardo Young are co-backups to C.J. Brown at quarterback. Perry Hills, as Coach Randy Edsall said last week, is out of the race.

>> Nick Klemm, once the starting right tackle, no longer appears on the depth chart. Redshirt freshman Moise Larose is currently the backup, behind new starter Ryan Doyle. Klemm has experienced quite the fall since preseason camp began.

>> Alex Walker and Andre Monroe are co-backups behind Keith Bowers at defense end. Monroe has dealt with a toe injury recently, and Walker switched from nose tackle to the outside.

>> At left guard, transfer Silvano Altamirano and junior Gary Harraka are co-backups. Because Doyle moved to the right side, junior Jake Wheeler becomes the backup to Mike Madaras at left tackle.

>> Shawn Petty will back up Cole Farrand at the “Mike” linebacker position. The preseason second-stringer, Bradley Johnson, has been rehabbing from offseason cleanup surgery and has been limited in practices.

>> Maryland moved Isaac Goins over behind cornerback Dexter McDougle and inserted Will Likely as the backup behind Jeremiah Johnson. Likely and Larose are the two true freshmen on the two-deep.

>> With Zach Dancel dealing with a hamstring issue, Undray Clark becomes the backup strong safety behind Anthony Nixon. As expected, Sean Davis will start at the other safety spot.

>> Brad Craddock is the starting kicker, but that could easily change. Adam Greene is the sole backup, after entering the summer tied with Brendan Magistro there.

>> Stefon Diggs and Likely are first- and second-string, respectively, on both kickoff and punt returns.
