Maryland football receives 3:30 p.m. start vs. West Virginia

The Maryland football team received a 3:30 p.m. start for its nationally televised game against West Virginia on Sept. 21 at Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium, which will be broadcast on either ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU.

The Terrapins moved to 2-0 with their second straight 40-point showing, routing Old Dominion 47-10 on Saturday. The Mountaineers haven’t been the same since losing Geno Smith, Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey to the NFL. A first-quarter touchdown served as West Virginia’s only points in a 16-7 loss at Oklahoma last weekend, and on opening the day the Mountaineers needed a late touchdown to squeak by Football Championship Subdivision foe William & Mary.

The two sides met last year in Morgantown, W.V., a 31-21 Mountaineers win. Stefon Diggs had arguably his most electric game in a Maryland uniform that afternoon, catching three passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Smith carved up the Terps secondary, connecting with Austin 13 times for 179 yards and three scores.

West Virginia hosts Georgia State on Saturday at noon. Maryland travels to Connecticut for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
