Maryland football vs. Virginia Tech: Pregame notes and open thread

(John McDonnell/The Washington Post)

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Greetings from foggy Lane Stadium, where airplanes approaching nearby Roanoke Airport can be heard but not seen on an overcast day. Kickoff between the Maryland football team (5-4, 1-4 ACC) is at 12:30 p.m. Colleague Mark Giannotto, who covers the Hokies, will handle the game story but we’ll have plenty of blog posts and a Terrapins-centric sidebar after the final gun.

Check out the pregame links, pregame notes and injury report below, toss your thoughts into the comments section and enjoy the game. Thanks for following along.

>> With slot receivers Levern Jacobs and DeAndre Lane both out with injuries, Nigel King will start inside. Amba Etta-Tawo and Malcolm Culmer are the other starting wideouts, with Daniel Adams and converted quarterback Ricardo Young serving as the backups.

>> Moise Larose’s foot injury caused Coach Randy Edsall to reshuffle his offensive line again. Stay tuned through pregame warmups. Right tackle Ryan Doyle will move to left tackle, right guard Michael Dunn moves to right tackle and sophomore Andrew Zeller makes his first start of the season at right guard.

>> Speaking of Zeller, let him warm your heart as he surprises a former teacher at Red Lion (Pa.) High School, who has cancer, with $1,500 raised by selling t-shirts.
