Dion Wiley and Melo Trimble comprise one-half of Coach Mark Turgeon’s heralded class of 2014, which currently ranks 10th nationally by ESPN.com. Both are four-star recruits. Both are ranked among the country’s top 50 players by ESPN. And both will share the court on Saturday at Wise during the DMV Tip-Off Classic, in the nightcap starting at 7:30 p.m.

This summer, Wiley and Trimble squared off for the first time during the Under Armour Elite-24 all-star game in Brooklyn, though this matchup contains slightly higher stakes between the two players named preseason All-Met by this here publication. Both signed their letters of intent in mid-November, officially inking their futures to the Maryland men’s basketball team.

O’Connell enters at 3-3 overall and 3-0 in the WCAC, having rebounded from three straight losses in Utah at the Great Western Shootout. During those three victories, Trimble is averaging 24.7 points per game, according to our AllMetSports database.

Potomac, meanwhile, boasts a 3-1 record (3-0 conference) and Wiley is averaging 20.8 points per game. The Wolverines most recently fell to St. John’s, a game in which Wiley scored “10 inconsequential points” off the bench, because he missed shootaround.
