Name: Jesse Aniebonam.

High school: Good Counsel.
Height, weight: 6 feet 4, 230 pounds.

>> The highest-ranked player among Maryland’s class of 2014 before National Signing Day, Aniebonam ranks among ESPN.com’s top 100 players nationally and chose the Terps over finalists Clemson, Notre Dame, North Carolina and Virginia Tech.
“I think I have not only a really good relationship with the coaches at Maryland but with the players as well,” Aniebonam said after he committed, via colleague Brandon Parker. “I believe it’s a perfect fit and I’ll be able to prosper there for the next four years.”
>> As a junior, Aniebonam had 46 tackles and 3.5 sacks to help lead Good Counsel to its fourth straight WCAC title. This season, after overcoming a potentially serious helmet-to-helmet hit against Gonzaga, he became the sixth player in school history to earn an invitation to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
>> At Maryland, he will reunite with former teammates Stefon Diggs, Zach Dancel and Andrew Stefanelli.
>> At the time of his commitment, Aniebonam said Maryland plans to use him as a hybrid outside linebacker in 2014.
“That’s a blessing to me to be able to compete against the best competition in the country [in the Big Ten] and to show out for my city and Maryland,” Aniebonam said last August. “I’m going to keep working hard and keep doing everything I do to show the competition why we’re the best out here in Maryland.”
