The Maryland football team received its class of 2015 oral commitment in less than a week, this time from McDonogh High School guard Ellis McKennie, according to his Twitter.

Graded a three-star recruit by 247sports.com, McKennie joins offensive lineman E.J. Donahue (Linganore) and Floridian running back Deltron Sands as members of Maryland’s upcoming recruiting class. Sands committed last weekend. McKennie attends the same high school as class of 2014 offensive lineman Jared Cohen, who was Maryland’s first oral commitment last season but later backed out and ultimately committed to North Carolina.
Listed at 6 feet, 3 inches and 285 pounds, McKennie chose Maryland over reported offers from Marshall and Rutgers, according to 247sports.com, which ranked him as the ninth-best player in his state. Last season, the Eagles won the state title by beating Baltimore powerhouse Gilman by 31 points. He also, according to Testudo Times, shot puts.
