Former Maryland great Jasmina Perazic, who led the Terrapins to the 1982 Final Four, was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame during a ceremony in Knoxville last weekend.
Considered one of the school’s historical greats, Perazic was an All-American in 1983 and finished her career with 1,396 points. She was named co-MVP of that year’s ACC tournament, which Maryland won for the third consecutive season.
Perazic led Maryland to wins over Stanford, Missouri and Drake in the 1982 NCAA tournament before the Terrapins lost to Cheyney in the national semifinals. Maryland finished the season with a final ranking of No. 3 in the country. Perazic was also a member of the Yugoslavian Olympic team, which won the bronze medal in 1980, and she played for one season in the WNBA with the New York Liberty.
Perazic becomes the fourth Maryland member of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, which includes Vicky Bullett, Tara Heiss and Perzaic’s coach, Chris Weller.
