Terps add 2015 commit in Texas safety Jameel Cook

Maryland football received its fourth commitment in 24 hours Friday evening with the pledge of rising senior safety Jameel Cooke out of Texas.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Cooke, who plays at Ridge Point High School in Missouri City, Texas, is considered a two-star prospect by Rivals and had a long list of offers, including Missouri, Arizona State and Utah.

Cooke’s commitment came just hours after the Terps picked up a commitment from Florida receiver Jahrvis Davenport, and marks the second prospect from Texas to commit in the past week. Maryland also received a pledge from San Antonio-area defensive tackle Mbi Tanyi last week. Maryland has picked up 10 commitments since June 7.
