EPA moving ahead with sweeping rules: The Environmental Protection Agency will move ahead with rules requiring cleaner gasoline and cars, even as the oil industry and some conservative Democrats have protested.

Obama budget coming soon: President Obama will release his fiscal 2014 budget proposal on April 10, the same day he is scheduled to dine for the second time in two months with Senate Republicans. The Obama budget is set for release more than two months after it was due.

Obama creates voting commission: As he promised in his State of the Union address, Obama has used the power of executive fiat to create a voting commission to improve access and efficiency at the polls. The two co-chairs are the chief lawyers representing the candidates in the 2012 election: Ben Ginsburg of the Mitt Romney campaign and Ben Bauer of the Obama campaign.

Murkowski's views 'evolving' on gay marriage: When pressed about her position on same-sex marriage, Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) told the Chugiak-Eagle River Star that her views are "evolving." Murkowski said: "I think it's important to acknowledge that there is a change afoot in this country in terms of how marriage is viewed." So far, Sen.
