The country will breach the debt ceiling in just eight days, and the two parties seem further apart than ever when it comes to negotiating a way out of this mess.

If Congress simply won't pass a debt-ceiling increase, there are a few options open to President Obama to take matters into his own hands.  He could (in theory):

1. Invoke the 14th Amendment

2. Mint a trillion-dollar coin

3. Try to prioritize which bills get paid when.
