No politician ever goes to Iowa by accident. That includes Florida Sen. Marco Rubio who campaigned Monday in the Hawkeye State for Joni Ernst, the frontrunner in Tuesday's Republican Senate primary.
Doing a local radio show from studies of WHO TV-- hence the owl -- Rubio explained his thinking on the visit:
Sen. Rubio on WHO Radio says he's never endorsed in sen primary but made exception for Ernst bc she's exceptional & will help unite party

Also, Rubio wants to run for president in 2016 and having spent the day before her (likely) primary victory with the GOP nominee for Senate can't hurt him with conservatives when -- oops, if -- the Florida Senator runs for national office. No word on the owl's interest in a potential presidential bid.
