Before 2008, there were one to two earthquakes magnitude three or greater each year in Oklahoma. In 2015, it's an average of two per day.
"Is it, as common sense might suggest, the seemingly obvious connection to fracking, or is the Lord using our great state as a Shake Weight?" Jon Stewart asked Thursday on "The Daily Show." "Who really knows?"
According to the Oklahoma Geological Survey, it's "very likely that oil and gas waste water disposal wells have triggered earthquakes." Regardless, House lawmakers the next day approved a bill barring municipal governments from regulating drilling.
Stewart also introduced the NSA's recycling mascot. He's not impressed.
