The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has already chosen to endorse someone other than Grayson for the race, Rep. Patrick Murphy, but he isn't backing down.
His campaign Web site's URL is congressmanwithguts.com, and it liberally uses ALL CAPS, which gives you a sense of what a possible Grayson for Senate campaign would be like.
In case that's not a full enough picture for you, here's some of his comments, campaign ads and greatest hits to give you an idea what could be in store.
On winning the primary
"I would be very surprised if I ever lost a primary in my life. Our voters will crawl over hot coals to vote for me." -- in an interview with CNN
On being Florida's Obama
"The only Democratic candidate who has been able to [get out the Democratic vote in Florida] in the past six years is Barack Obama, who won twice statewide because he ran a populist, exciting campaign that motivated our voters to vote. I told [establishment Democrats] I'm going to run a Barack Obama type campaign if I run for the Senate." -- in an interview with the Tampa Bay Times
Gloriously random campaign ads
In a 2010 ad for his House campaign, he stood in a football stadium and talked about Wall Street banks taking billions of tax dollars. And then he kicked a field goal, for no apparent reason. We could expect more ads like this!
On the tea party being like the KKK
"[T]here is overwhelming evidence that the tea party is the home of bigotry and discrimination in America today, just as the KKK was for an earlier generation. If the shoe fits, wear it." -- in a statement after a fundraising e-mail used a burning cross as a "T" to spell out "Tea Party"
On this lobbyist
In 2009, he called Federal Reserve lobbyist Linda Robertson a "K Street whore" because she was opposed to an audit of her agency. He later apologized and said, "I did not intend to use a term that is often, and correctly, seen as disrespectful of women."
Not Ready for Hillary
He isn't that impressed so far. "I listened very closely to her announcement video, and I have to say that if I were grading it, I'd have to grade it at this early point as incomplete. We need to hear about what the solutions are, and for that, we're still waiting." -- in an interview with HuffPost Live
On Republicans' health-care plan
On the House floor in 2009, Grayson said Republicans' health-care plan was don't get sick, but if you do get sick, "die quickly."
On schools
In another weird ad, schoolchildren chant in unison, "Alan Grayson saved our schools" over and over. And then there are the kids at the end, lovingly fussing over the congressman.
His current and former relationships
Grayson's girlfriend, Dena Minning, has expressed interest in running for his House seat if he runs for the Senate, according to Politico. On Twitter, she's a big fan of Grayson, #using #hashtags and posting photos with famous Democrats and progressive causes.
Grayson's other relationship hasn't proven as politically helpful. In April, he and his estranged wife, Lolita, decided to annul their marriage. An earlier trial over whether she committed bigamy -- for marrying Grayson when she was still married to someone else -- was delayed because of emergency surgery to remove her breast implants.
On fashion
Don't expect to see Grayson show up on the campaign trail looking like your usual politician. He is a fan of three-button suits, dark shirts and, well, colorful ties. His American flag tie is a personal favorite.
His sometimes salty language
Tampa Bay Times political editor Adam Smith said Wednesday Grayson had some choice words for him when he asked about some offshore investments in the Cayman Islands. According to Smith's story, Grayson Fund Ltd. and Grayson Master Fund were incorporated there in 2011, the same year Grayson wrote the IRS should audit Fortune 500 companies because they were evading taxes in part through offshore tax havens. Smith tweeted a sample of Grayson's response to his questions.
