Jon Stewart relishes tough reporting on politics. But the "The Daily Show" host felt the New York Times missed the mark in its revelations this week on Marco Rubio's driving record and personal spending.
"I can't think of a single person who would be bothered by this," Stewart said of the stories that detailed how the Republican senator from Florida paid off his student loans with money he made from writing a book, bought a boat, leased a car and got four traffic tickets since 1997.
"I'm assuming the New York Times obtained this damning information from Marco Rubio's plaque in the Hall of Best Miami Drivers Ever," he said.
Since the stories were published, Rubio's campaign has been able to criticize the New York Times, a favorite Republican candidate pastime, and he had fund raised off of it. Now, they've even got "The Daily Show" on their side for the moment.
