Sen. Chuck Grassley's (R-Iowa) daughter was in a car accident with a deer, he tweeted Wednesday. Thankfully, she's safe, but the deer's dead -- "no presumption," Grassley added.

In case you have no idea what that means, it appears to make reference to one of his all-time most famous tweets (Grassley's stream-of-consciousness Twitter feed is kind of a thing) from 2012 about hitting a deer and how he "assume[d] deer dead."

Could it be that Grassley is self-aware? That he knows about the notorious reputation his tweets have, the cult following he's developed, the way "assume deer dead" has risen to become a cherished joke among political reporters, insiders, and junkies alike?

Yes, yes it seems so.

It also seems that his family needs to be extra cautious about hitting deer.
