The night before the mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando early Sunday — a time that now seems long ago — Mitt Romney sent this tweet:

In case you've been living under a rock, this was a clever joke about the continued effort by some to get Romney to swoop in and take the 2016 GOP nomination from Donald Trump, somehow.

The news of the tragedy early Sunday morning quickly made Romney's joke and surprise foray into professional wrestling look trivial. In fact, it's still pretty trivial, but it was for charity. And the video, which we just spotted and posted for you below, is worth a quick watch if you need a little break from the terrible events of this past week.

Here's the backstory, from

But the crowd had no clue who was delivering the sorry-looking clotheslines until Romney unmasked himself, the Boston Globe said.
Mimicking Nacho Libre himself, Romney donned blue tights, a red cape and a Mexican lucha libre mask. His moves were weak, according to Boston Magazine; but that didn't stop him from sprinting out a victory lap around the ring.
"Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in," Romney tweeted from his Twitter account after the match.
The event benefited CharityVision International, a nonprofit that fights against blindness in developing nations. The organization is headed by Romney's son, Josh.

This isn't the first time Romney has set foot inside the ring, of course; he "boxed" former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield last year. Nor is Romney the first Republican presidential nominee to get involved in pro wrestling; Donald Trump, you might have heard, was actually inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.
