After Kellyanne Conway was photographed sitting on her feet on an Oval Office couch, the Internet reached for its best material — and behold, a new meme was born.
But the picture of Conway taking a picture sparked debate on social media — with some asserting that Conway's casual posture was disrespectful to the Oval Office and all it stands for, and others noting that President Barack Obama had been spotted with his feet on the Oval Office’s storied Resolute desk on several occasions during his term, according to the Associated Press.
“If Rice or Jarrett had sat like this in Oval Office conservatives would have screamed themselves hoarse for weeks," Wall Street Journal foreign affairs columnist Bret Stephens wrote on Twitter. "Now we own trashy.”
Even others — here on The Fix, and elsewhere — noted that the controversy “is so incredibly dumb.”
