The Internet moves quickly. If you step away for even a moment — to, say, eat a meal, partake in an IRL conversation, or, God forbid, sleep — you’ll miss the latest/greatest cat video or bizarre Internet meme. This hilarious churn is, in part, why I write this e-mail newsletter called “Links I Would Gchat You If We Were Friends,” which goes out every day in the mid to late afternoon. It’s also why, from now until you tire of it, I’m going to collect some of the best links from the newsletter into a weekly post for your weekend perusal/distraction.

Without further ado, these are the 2o best things I spotted on the Internet last week:

  1. #YestoAllWomen
  2. A cat playing Jenga
  3. The confessions of a former online dating surrogate
  4. This essay on how the Internet changed our conception of time
  5. This corporate tweet that took two months (!) to write
  6. Billboard and Twitter’s new real-time trending song chart
  7. The rise and fall of the brilliant Insta-business Phrostie
  8. Overcoming FOMO with economic theory
  9. Kickstarting a Reading Rainbow app
  10. Patricia Lockwood, the Internet’s poet
  11. This video of otters playing keyboard at the National Zoo
  12. This dizzying, indescribable Web site of flying emoji
  13. Actors hanging out with their body doubles
  14. The 25th birthday of “lol”
  15. “Harry Potter,” as told by Ayn Rand
  16. Online dating, according to (a) economists and (b) a ’90s video how-to
  17. Broadband on the moon
  18. The most-liked picture on Instagram
  19. The children of White House advisers started a boy band (for real)
  20. Companies exist to make keepsakes of your texts (… also for real.)

You can also sign up to get these links on the daily, by e-mail, here. Otherwise — until next week!
