If you're between the ages of 17 and 23 and you're good-looking, smart, and athletic, then you could snag a role in the next Star Wars movie. Disney, which acquired rights to the Star Wars franchise last year, has announced a casting call for a new Disney film. And the Chicago Tribune says the film in question is Star Wars Episode 7, which is slated for release on December 18, 2015.
Disney is advertising for two roles. "Rachel" is a 17-year-old girl who lost her parents at a young age but "has become street smart and strong." "Thomas" is a man between the ages of 19 and 23 who "has grown up without a father's influence." He's "smart, capable and shows courage when it is needed," but "doesn't have the strongest sense of himself."
Casting director Maryellen Aviano visited Minneapolis and St. Louis for "meet and greets" last week. Between now and Thanksgiving, she will hold additional events in Chicago, Austin, Nashville, and Troy, Michigan.
J.J. Abrams is set to direct the new film. Star Wars creator George Lucas will serve as a "creative consultant," but will be much less involved in the project than he was with previous Star Wars films.
