Before former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden steps into the most public stage of his exile by livestreaming to a panel at the South by Southwest Interactive Festival, PostTV interviewed reporter Barton Gellman on what makes Snowden tick, his next steps, Gellman's own relationship with Snowden, and why he chose SXSW. Since the Snowden documents started leaking last summer, Gellman has broken story after story about NSA programs with The Post.

Some highlights? SXSW is a place where Snowden can reach a diverse group of tech leaders to talk about how to reform the policies and structure around NSA spying; Gellman's relationship with Snowden is like with any other source — only slightly more "clandestine"; and Snowden wants permanent asylum somewhere and/or to come to an understanding with the U.S. government.
