The Syrian Electronic Army appears to have struck again.

In an attack on the Washington Post Thursday, hackers supporting the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad hijacked parts of the Post's Web site so that users were redirected to a site controlled by the SEA.

Washington Post chief information officer Shailesh Prakash said Thursday's attack affected the Post's mobile homepage and "some section fronts on the mobile site," but not article pages.

"The situation has been resolved and no customer information was impacted,” said Prakash in a statement.

The roughly 30-minute disruption occurred when hackers infiltrated a Washington Post content-delivery partner. That provider, Instart Logic, is currently investigating the break-in.

This isn't the first time an attack like this has occurred. In 2013, the SEA took aim at a handful of news organizations — including the Post — by leveraging a flaw in a third-party plugin that recommends related content to readers.
