Has your iPhone seem to run down its battery a lot lately? Try updating your Facebook app.

The social network on Friday said that it had identified a couple of issues with its iOS app that had been draining iPhone batteries.  In a post on Facebook, company engineering manager Ari Grant said that the company has updated its app after users — including Circa co-founder Matt Galligan — reported having problems.

Grant said that there were a couple of culprits, including a bug that was needlessly using up the phone's processing power and another that kept the app awake as if it were playing audio in the background — except that there was nothing to play.

"This is similar to when you close a music app and want to keep listening to the music while you do other things, except in this case it was unintentional and nothing kept playing," Grant wrote. "The app isn't actually doing anything while awake in the background, but it does use more battery simply by being awake."

He was clear, however, that the battery issues were in no way related to location services in the app.

The new version of the app, complete with bug fixes, was released Friday.
