It’s a subject that’s both professionally and personally important to me. My focus as a member of the health, science and environment team is the brain, and I have a particular interest in mental illness because I live with bipolar.
Over the past 30 years, I’ve seen a change in how mental illness is understood and treated. More importantly, I think we are on the cusp of great advancements in teasing out the biological origins of mental illness and finding more targeted therapies that don’t just rely on drugs.
