It started with a shove. Several punches followed, then a full-on brawl broke out in a Chicago maximum security jail Feb. 16.
Video released by the Cook County Sheriff’s office shows several fights breaking out about 9:30 p.m. The fracas lasted about two minutes, before guards entered to break it up.
Sixteen inmates were indicted on a charge of mob action, according to a statement from the sheriff’s department Feb. 26. The statement also reported finding a homemade weapon.
Two inmates were taken to hospitals, and others were treated inside the jail. None of the detainees faced life-threatening injuries, officials said.
