National Firearms Law Seminar

If you will be in the Indianapolis area next Friday, and are interested in firearms legal issues, you might be interested in attending the 17th annual National Firearms Law Seminar. This is a continuing legal education program that is a regular part of the NRA Annual Meeting. The program lasts a full day, and costs range from $295 for practicing attorneys, down to $50 for law students.

Among the speakers are Indiana Supreme Court Justice Steven H. David, Stephen Halbrook, Nicholas Johnson (Fordham Law), and me. Topics will include current Second Amendment litigation, state and federal firearms disqualifications, relief from these disabilities, Stand Your Ground, firearms ranges, Illinois’s new licensed carry law, gun trusts and the National Firearms Act (NFA), and legal ethics. The program provides up to 10 hours of CLE credit (depending on the state), including one hour of ethics.

David Kopel is Research Director, Independence Institute, Denver, Colorado; Associate Policy Analyst, Cato Institute, Washington, D.C; and Adjunct professor of advanced constitutional law, Denver University, Sturm College of Law. He is author of 15 books and 90 scholarly journal articles.
