I thought it would be nice to gather readers’ experiences about cool museums, memorials and similar places in the D.C. area — not the ones everyone knows about, such as the Air and Space Museum, but the less familiar ones. For instance,

  1. My family and I much enjoyed the tour of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing;
  2. My wife reports that she and the boys liked the National Postal Museum (I couldn’t make that one);
  3. My favorite museum, the National Museum of Health and Medicine, moved from the Walter Reed Medical Center to the Maryland suburbs (Silver Spring) — I haven’t been to the new location, but the general approach sounds similar to the old, and the Walter Reed version was fun and freaky.

Any suggestions?
