Town Square | ‘Syriana’ D.C. movie set sells for $1.2M

(Nathan Stewart)

If the living room at 2100 12th St. NW in the District looks familiar, it may be because you saw it in “Syriana,” the 2005 film starring George Clooney, Matt Damon and Geoffrey Wright.

The living room, front porch and kitchen appear in the film as the home of Wright’s character. The townhouse, part of the Harrison Square development, recently sold for “substantially over $1.2 million,” said Daryl Judy associate broker at Washington Fine Properties, who listed the property along with Kimberly Casey.

The property , Judy said, received seven offers at or above the $1.125 million list price.

He says that while the buyers purchased the home because it meets their everyday needs, they’ll also enjoy a little bit of Hollywood glamour. The home has three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a gas fireplace, a living room, a dining room, a family room, a gourmet kitchen, hardwood floors throughout and a two-car garage. It’s located within a short walk of the U Street Metro station and the 14th Street corridor.

High-priced listing comes with a view instead of land

You might expect one of the most expensive homes on the market to come with several acres and a water view. While a $4.495 million listing offers spectacular views of the Potomac River, it is in a penthouse in a condo building on the Alexandria waterfront.

The listing is in Unit 301 in the Oronoco, one of the last homes available in a new luxury building by EYA.

The home has 3,015 square feet of indoor living space, plus 936 square feet of exterior space on a balcony and an expansive rooftop terrace with an indoor/outdoor fireplace and river views.

In addition to the open living room, dining area and kitchen, the home has a library, three bedrooms, two full bathrooms and a half bathroom. The master suite has two walk-in closets and a luxury bathroom. The home has hardwood flooring, 10-foot-high ceilings, quartz counters, stainless steel appliances and a glass mosaic backsplash in the kitchen.

Building amenities include a heated outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, concierge services, a children’s playroom, a meeting room and a dog-washing station. For more information, visit or call 571-483-0286.

The studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments have floor-to-ceiling windows, balconies, terraces, stainless steel appliances, eco-friendly countertops, hardwood flooring, ceramic tile bathrooms and a full-size washer and dryer.

D.C. team ranks No. 7 in sales among Coldwell Banker North America units

The Mandy & David Team in Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage‘s Dupont Circle office, was named the No. 7 sales team in North America for the company. The team, led by Mandy Mills and David Getson, closed more than $131 million in sales in 2013 and $104 million in sales in 2012.

Mills and Getson say their sales success is due in part to hosting “pricing parties” at their listings for brokers to generate interest and to hosting “neighborhood parties” at the properties before they list them.
