Chris Cooley has put his Leesburg home back on the market with a price cut. The former Washington Redskins tight end and sports-talk radio host for ESPN 980 listed the house in 2012 not long after he split with his then-wife, Christy. After it languished for 16 months with no takers at $2.499 million, he took it off the market in February. It was listed last week at $2.39 million. Cooley bought the house in 2007 for $2.85 million.

The 13,054-square-foot stone mansion was built in 2004 and is on 3.67 acres. As you enter the home, a curved staircase with wrought iron balusters rises to the second floor in the two-story marble foyer. The foyer is flanked by a formal living room and dining room. Many of the works of art on the walls were done by Cooley, a former art major.

The kitchen is ideally suited to entertaining. There are two dishwashers, a dual fuel range with six burners and a char-broiler, a Sub-Zero refrigerator and a beverage drawer in the island.

Five bedrooms are on the upper level, each with its own private bathroom and walk-in closet. The master suite features an expansive dressing room with a granite countertop island and custom armoire cabinets and a sitting area with a two-sided fireplace. The master bathroom has his and her vanities and his and her commodes, a marble-wall shower and soaking tub.

Cooley used the au pair suite on the lower level as his ceramics studio. Much of the pottery he made was sold at his gallery in downtown Leesburg. The rest of the lower level was for entertaining. Leather recliners in the media room are arranged on two levels for optimum viewing. In the back of the room, a granite-topped bar offers refreshments. The stone wine cellar has wood doors and wrought iron gates with an adjoining tasting area.

The great room has a fireplace — one of three in the home — and a bar with microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher.

French doors open to a patio and pool area. The 750-square-foot pool has a vanishing edge. A circular spa and cedar pergola with beverage bar are at the pool’s left, and an 80-square-foot natural sand beach with a fire pit is to the right. Over 100 low-voltage lighting fixtures illuminate the deck, stairs, trees and house.

Besides an elevator that runs to all three levels, the six-bedroom, nine-bathroom home has a four-car garage, standby generator and a home-security system with camera.

An open house is scheduled for June 8 from 1 to 4 p.m.
