HSH.com recently compiled a comprehensive database of financial assistance programs across all 50 states and the District for people seeking to buy their first home or repeat borrowers.

Down payment assistance, closing cost assistance and low down payment loans can help buyers get into a home faster than anticipated and at a lower cost.

For example, the site mentions two programs in Virginia, including a down payment assistance program and Virginia Individual Development Accounts that match savings for eligible individuals to increase their down payment funds more quickly.

Six programs are identified in Maryland to help buyers with down payment funds and low interest loans, including the Partner Match Program, which works with employers and community groups to increase the availability of down payment and closing cost assistance.

In the District, five programs are identified, including the Home Purchase Assistance Program to help first-time buyers with down payment and closing cost funds.
