The luxury home market in the Washington area has been thriving this year, with expensive properties selling faster and at higher prices than in 2016.

Median sales prices were up 2.8 percent for houses priced at $1 million or above in July compared to July 2016, according to the LuxInsight Report produced by Long & Foster Real Estate. In addition, these top-priced houses sold within an average of 46 days, a 23 percent decrease compared to last July’s average of 60 days on the market.

In the midst of this luxury boom, a house at 11401 Highland Farm Court in Potomac recently sold for $3.75 million. Though the house sold for substantially less than its original list price a few years ago, it was the most expensive sale in the Round Hill development since 2011. The home was listed at $5.9 million in 2015 but didn’t sell. It was re-listed at $4.1 million in December 2016. The purchaser is Jeffrey Greenberg, the owner of ASC Ticket, a ticket brokerage.

The 18,000-square-foot Georgian Colonial-style estate has eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms on four levels. The four-acre property has a swimming pool, a cabana, an outdoor fireplace, an outdoor kitchen and travertine decks. Wrought-iron gates at the entrance open onto a circular brick driveway that leads to the house and to the five-car garage. The buyer has a collection of eight cars.

Interior features include a lower level with a bar and entertaining area and formal entertaining spaces on the main level.
