If you’d like some help changing the look of your home and need some advice for DIY projects, you may be eligible to apply for an Ikea Home Tour Makeover.

Ikea for years has been shooting “Home Tour Makeovers” as a source for ideas. You can find it at https://www.hometourseries.com.

However, before you get too excited about the possibility of a free makeover, be aware that winners may be required to put together some of the Ikea furniture featured in the makeover. That may not be something you want to share on camera for all your friends and family to see.

If you’re still interested, you need to make a short video that introduces you, your family and your pets and provides a tour of your home. You’ll need to choose a room and do a panoramic view of it while you explain what you think Ikea can do to improve the space. You need to shoot the outside of your place.

You also need to talk about your plans for the future such as starting a home-based business or increasing the size of your family and how a makeover might move those plans forward.

The makeovers are mostly cosmetic and can’t require any demolition work, plumbing or electrical work.

Applicants must live within a 60-minute drive of an Ikea store.

The Home Tour Makeover project covers specific markets at different times. Upcoming deadlines for the contest are:

New York and New Jersey: Nov. 12, 2017

Maryland and Virginia: Feb. 4, 2018

Boston: April 1, 2018
