Five five-bedroom, six-bath brownstones on Capitol Hill list for $2.995 million to $4 million

Petra Development, a design-build real estate development firm, is restoring five rowhouses to function as more luxurious spaces for working and living.

Overlooking Stanton Park, each of the 19th-century houses at 418 to 426 C St. NE in the District will be designed to serve as a single-family house or as a commercial business. A buyer can also choose to combine those functions in one space.

Built in 1888, the brownstones are close to the Capitol, Supreme Court and Union Station. Each has about 3,700 square feet with five bedrooms, six bathrooms and one or two parking spaces.

Priced from $2.995 million to $4 million, each property will be restored and ready for move-ins on staggered schedule from mid-December through mid-to-late February. Jeff Akseizer, principal at the Akseizer Design Group, is working with Petra Development on the interior design of the buildings.

The properties have a modern style inside, with 11-foot-high ceilings, oak floors, a custom-milled staircase, Statuario marble bathrooms, imported Italian matte lacquer kitchen cabinets, marble counters, upgraded appliances and a rooftop deck with Brazilian ipe wood.

The lower-level unit in each property can be configured as an in-law suite or office space, and will include a kitchenette and a full bathroom.

The first residence to be available, at 418 C St. NE, also has a newly renovated carriage house with 1,100 square feet on two levels with two bathrooms. Originally a horse stable, the carriage house could serve as a guesthouse or business offices.
