The Wizards are seeking their first winning streak after starting the season with 12 straight losses, but they will have a tough challenge against the Atlantic Division-leading New York Knicks.

Coach Randy Wittman was hoping that the momentum of the 84-82 victory over Portland and the atmosphere of Madison Square Garden could inspire a solid effort from his team.

“It’s always fun to come in here. This is one of best arenas that you could ever play in. When I was player, I always looked forward to coming in here, playing. There is no better setting,” Wittman said. “Our guys should look forward to that. I told our guys, ‘We have to feed off that.’ This is a very good team. we are going to have to play one of our best games.”

The last time the Wizards were in New York, they got thrashed 103-65 and set a new franchise record for fewest field goals in a game. “For a lot of the guys, it was their first time in here,” Wittman said. “I think our guys are ready coming off the win that we had. They are feeling good about themselves.”

Jordan Crawford is probably at the head of the line, after scoring 19 points in each of the past two games against San Antonio and Portland. He has combined to shoot 16 for 30 from the field in those contests.

“He’s taking good shots,” Wittman said. “That’s what it boils down to. The shots that he’s taking are shots that he’s capable of making. Not getting in any wild situations of taking bad shots. I think that’s why his percentage has gone up.”
