Shelvin Mack is back from the NBA Developmental League and will make his first career start at point guard as the Wizards host Kyrie Irving and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Coach Randy Wittman will go with his 11th different starting lineup, with Bradley Beal, Nene, Emeka Okafor and Martell Webster joining Mack. Mack is taking the place of leading scorer Jordan Crawford, who was benched after what Wittman explained was a “team rules violation.”

Crawford was late for shootaround, according to a team source. Averaging 18.5 points, 6.5 assists and 5.2 rebounds this month, Crawford had started the previous eight games and 12 of 25 this season.

The Wizards (3-22) have lost seven in a row and the Cavaliers (6-23) recently snapped a six-game losing streak on Saturday in Milwaukee. Cleveland will be without Anderson Varejao, who will his fourth consecutive game with a right knee contusion.

Shaun Livingston, who was cut by the Wizards on Saturday and claimed by Cleveland yesterday, was at Verizon Center but Byron Scott said the 6-foot-7 point guard is unlikely to play. Livingston flew back to Los Angeles after getting waived, then caught a red-eye flight on Christmas to join the Cavaliers in Washington.
