The Wizards will travel to Nene‘s native Brazil to play a preseason contest against the Chicago Bulls next season. The Oct. 12 game in Rio de Janerio will be the first NBA contest played in that country.

“I am very proud to represent the Wizards organization and the NBA in my home country of Brazil next October,” Nene said in a statement released by the team. “I look forward to returning home.”

The Wizards are no strangers to overseas play, they have previously played preseason games in the Bahamas, Canada, Germany, Mexico and Spain.

In 1979, the franchise made history by becoming the first professional sports team to visit China. Then-Bullets owner Abe Pollin and his team spent 13 days there, touring, participating in basketball clinics and playing exhibition games against Chinese teams.
