Wizards vs Thunder: Game 71 Discussion Thread

John Wall might not need to duplicate his heroic, 47-point performance, but he might have to come close in order for the Wizards to defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Wizards are shorthanded once again, as Nene (sore right knee), Bradley Beal (sprained left ankle), Trevor Ariza (flu), Martell Webster (abdomen) and A.J. Price (sore groin) are out. But Jason Collins, who was available but didn’t play in the Wizards’ 107-94 win on Monday against Memphis, is also out with the flu, leaving the team with just eight healthy players.

“We go out and play. No matter who we have. And we’ve got to continue to do that,” Coach Randy Wittman said. “Guys are going to have opportunities to step up and play and that’s what this league is about. Seizing an opportunity and making the most of a situation. We did a good job of that against Memphis. Everything is magnified a little bit more but we’ll continue to play the same way.”

The Wizards defeated the Thunder, 101-99, on Jan. 7 without Wall, Nene and Jordan Crawford. Wittman said the situations were similar. “We were shorthanded back then in January. They are one of the best teams in the league. Any time you can pull wins like that out, those are good ones.”
