Bradley Beal has been fined $15,000 by the NBA for grabbing the throat of Evan Fournier during Friday’s Wizards-Magic game. The punishment was announced Sunday by the league’s head of basketball operations, Kiki Vandeweghe.

The incident occurred during a fourth-quarter scuffle that resulted in double technical fouls being called on Beal and Fournier, as well as on Washington’s Kelly Oubre Jr. and Orlando’s Bismack Biyombo. While several players from both teams clustered together amid some pushing, Beal reached out with his left arm and grabbed Fournier’s throat hard enough to leave a mark.

Beal could potentially have been called for a flagrant foul and even ejected from the game, but he wasn’t. He finished with 14 points, eight assists and two rebounds as the Wizards won, 94-91.
