“You know what, he’s been a little sore the last couple of games, but I thought he’s been able to fight through it,” Brooks said. “But yesterday he woke up, was a little sore, and then today … So there was a chance, but I didn’t know for sure until this afternoon.”
The forward’s absence means Jason Smith will take over primary duties at the four-spot. Smith made a career-high five three-pointers in Washington’s game Tuesday.
“Jason has done a good job of stepping in and giving us quality minutes, hopefully tonight — he definitely has a big challenge guarding Porzingis,” Brooks said, “but I think he’s gonna be ready for it.”
